A. Marie Powell, 87, Alexis, died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at her home in Alexis.

She was born September 9, 1936, in Swan Township, the daughter of Irvin and Nola (Wright) Wallis. She was raised and educated in Abingdon, graduating from Abingdon High School in 1954. Marie married Ron Powell on February 10, 1957, in Avon.

Marie worked several jobs over the years while she was raising her children. She loved spending time with her friends and following her beloved Chicago Cubs.

But most of all she loved being with and taking care of her grandchildren and they loved their time with her. They will all miss her.

Survivors include her; four children, Kurt (Pam) Powell of Auburn, Kraig (Lisa) Powell of Alexis, Kelly (Rhonda) Powell of LeSueur, Minn., and Kristine (Roger) Keeney of Alexis; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; her sister-in-law Marelyn Wallis and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ron, her parents and two brothers, Ray Wallis and Fred Wallis.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Moore Memorial Chapel, Alexis, with Kent Kindelsperger officiating. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Avon Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at Moore Memorial Chapel, Alexis, where her family will be present from 4-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Alexis Fire Department or the Avcom Park in Avon.
