Donna R. Kneer, 76, of Galesburg, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.

Donna was born on February 2, 1948 in Galesburg. She was the daughter of Ralph and Louise (Spencer) Mackie. She married Greg Kneer on September 2, 1967 at the Williamsfield Methodist Church. Together they celebrated 56 years of marriage. Surviving Donna are her husband, Greg at home; children, Darcy (Leah) Kneer of Dupo, IL and Lisa (Kirt) Ervin of Aviston, IL, and five grandchildren; brothers, Greg (Teresa) Mackie of Elmwood, Rod (Cheryl) Mackie of Laura and Curt (Susan) Mackie of Williamsfield. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Donna was a graduate of Williamsfield High School. She attended Iowa Wesleyan University. Donna had a career in women’s retail, including co-owner of the former Ladybug Shoppe in Knoxville. Later she was secretary for Dale Murdock, D.C. and at Blucker, Kneer and Associates before she officially retired. Donna was a member of the Knoxville United Methodist Church, secretary of the church council and member of Methodist Women. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a fifty-year member of Daughters of the American Revolution. Donna loved gardening, especially flowers. She also enjoyed reading and traveling…from Alaska to Hawai’I, the Lower 48, Europe, the Caribbean and more. She was a loving, welcoming and kind hearted lady with an infectious laugh who will be missed by those that loved her. She was blessed to be a part of a large and loving family.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 17, 2024, at the Knoxville United Methodist Church. Rev. Dave Mustain will officiate. Burial will follow services at the Williamsfield Cemetery, Williamsfield. Memorials may be made to the Knoxville United Methodist Church or to the OSF Health Care Foundation.
