Mr. Edward Lee “Eddie” Peak, Jr., 63, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Abingdon, Illinois died 1:28 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Oldorf Hospice House, Cedar Rapids.

He was born March 29, 1961, in Danville, Illinois to Edward L. and Wanda (Pruitt) Peak, Sr.

Surviving are two sisters, Linda (and Dannie) Chapin of Cameron, Illinois and Cheryl Miller of Cedar Rapids a special friend and the love of his life, Joan Bennett of Monmouth, Illinois and a nephew, David Peak, Jr.  He was preceded in death by his father, Edward L. Peak, Sr., his mother, Wanda Vogler, his stepfather, Richard Vogler, three brothers, Chris Peak, David Peak, Sr. and Michael Peak, and a niece, Brittany Peak.

Eddie worked for IPEA for approximately 12 years and was later disabled from his Parkinson’s Disease.  He fought a warrior’s fight with Parkinson’s Disease.  He loved fishing so much until he couldn’t do it any longer, but still dreamed of that next big catch.  Eddie loved watching NASCAR races and missed watching Tony Stewart race.  Any chance he could, whether it was live on television or recorded, he loved watching NASCAR.  He also had a love for the Dallas Cowboys and would always rival his sister who likes the Chicago Bears.  He was also a very generous and kind man.  He had been baptized and gave his heart to Jesus.  He attended Antioch Church in Marion, Iowa.  He fought a hard fight until the very end.  He will forever be missed and loved.  He is wrapped in the arms of Jesus and his family now, catching that fish he so wanted to do.

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in honor of Eddie and the continued fight against Parkinson’s Disease or to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be made at h-p-w.com.
