With 26 different languages spoken by students and families in the Monmouth-Roseville School District, a record number of students were a part of the English Language Arts program, reports Director of Multilingual Learners Amy Freitag:

“We ended the year at 377 English Learners. An English Learner is a student who has not yet demonstrated proficiency in English, so those are our students who need specialized support in English Language development and that is the highest number that we have ever seen in our district and it accounts for about 23 percent of our student population. We also welcomed some families from new countries. We now have families from Chili, Brazil, and Angola. We are up to 26 language spoken in the district and our families homes.”
