27 Chargers, 2 Sandburg teams named NJCAA All-Academic

GALESBURG — Sandburg had 27 student-athletes and two teams earn NJCAA All-Academic awards for the 2023-24 school year.

Student-athletes who achieved a GPA of at least 3.60 were eligible for NJCAA All-Academic honors. Two Chargers were named NJCAA All-Academic First Team for recording a perfect 4.0 GPA. Another nine received second-team honors (3.80-3.99 GPA), and 16 earned third-team honors (3.60-3.79 GPA).

A total of 12,245 NJCAA student-athletes earned all-academic honors for the 2023-24 season.

All 10 eligible Chargers teams had at least one player earn a spot on the NJCAA All-Academic team. Men’s soccer had the most recipients of any team, with 10. Three of Sandburg’s honorees participated in multiple sports, and four Chargers earned NJCAA All-Academic honors for the second consecutive year.

Also, Sandburg’s men’s cross country and men’s soccer teams were recognized as 2023-24 NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year for posting a team GPA of at least 3.0. There were 1,194 NJCAA teams that earned at least a 3.0 GPA.

  • Grace Vyhnanek (volleyball)
