Central Illinois native Tyler Inselmann has been named Monmouth College softball coach. Inselmann has been part of the Monmouth softball staff for the last two seasons as an assistant coach.

“Tyler emerged as the most logical choice during the search process as the best candidate to lead our softball program into the future,” said Roger Haynes, Director of Athletics. “Tyler is a very hard worker and will provide a stable culture for our program to improve.”

“First off I’d like to thank Coach Haynes and the entire search committee for trusting me to run the program here at Monmouth,” said Inselmann. “I’m really excited to get started and see what we can accomplish.

Inselmann joined the Scots for the 2023 serving as an assistant coach for the last two seasons. The Scots finished in sixth place in the Midwest Conference in 2023 and in fifth place in 2024.

Inselmann recruited numerous players on the current Scots roster along with an incoming class of seven student-athletes.

“We feel pretty good about the incoming class – talented and very eager to get going,” said Inselmann. “My style varies with what we have on the roster but I like to push runners, play a disciplined style of game without mistakes and make the other teams beat us.”

Prior to joining the Scots, Inselmann was an assistant coach at Tremont High School, just outside of Peoria. He spent three seasons with the Turks, although the first was cut short by COVID-19 in 2020. Tremont won regional titles in 2021 and 2022 before falling both seasons in the sectional round to state-power Rockridge.

Inselmann also has extensive experience coaching youth softball. He has coached the East Peoria Express 18u team for the last four years winning numerous local and regional tournament championships. Prior to his time with the Express, Inselmann coached the Mid-Illini Bandits 16u and 18u teams for two years.

A native of Delavan, Illinois, Inselmann played baseball at Delavan High School. He also played baseball and golf at Carl Sandburg College, graduating with an associate degree in 2015. Inselmann earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management from Louisiana State University in 2023.

He resides in North Pekin wife Haley, young son Luke, and two dogs.
