Mr. Harley E. Davis, 92, of Galesburg, Illinois died 5:54 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at his home after a battle with cancer. 

He was born May 24, 1932, in rural Knox County, Illinois to Samuel B and Daisey E (Little) Davis.  Harley graduated from Galesburg High School in 1952.  He married Virginia M Booton on June 29, 1952.  She preceded him in death on May 27, 1992. 

Harley served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.  He worked at Rowe Manufacturing for 23 years, Maytag for 4 years, and retired from Gates Rubber Company after 18 years. 

He is survived by his daughter Regina Jensen, of Alexis, Illinois, three grandchildren Megan (and Chris) Janey of Alexis, Blake Peterson of Columbia, Missouri, and Brittany (and Nolan) Smith of Cummings, Georgia, three great grandchildren, Garrett, Hiett, and Margo.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, daughter and son-in-law Robin and Stuart Peterson, son-in-law Gary Jensen, two brothers Leland and Marion and three sisters Ethel, Ana, and Nina. 

Harley was a member of the Galesburg Covenant Church and attended a mission trip to Honduras.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing at Bunker Links, hunting, fishing, woodworking, including carving ducks and geese, and having coffee with the golf guys. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the chapel.  Rev. Joe Hackett will officiate.  Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg with military rites by the Knox County Honor Guard.  Memorials can be made to the Covenant Church or Hospice Compasses.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
