Illinois Begins Little League Senior Softball World Series with Dominant Win Over Hawaii

The Little League Senior Softball World Series started on Monday in Roxana, Delaware. The Illinois squad took their first step to defending their championship from last year with a 10-1 win over the West squad from Hawaii. Illinois blasted four home runs in the game, two by Aspen Kitwoski from Springfield. Standout pitcher and 2-time first team all-stater Mia Volpert, also from Springfield, launched a home run and was perfect in the pitching circle in her four innings of work, striking out five batters. Hallie Gibson of Carlinville pitched the final three innings, giving up two hits and an earned run with three strikeouts.

West Central High School’s Addie Seitz was 1-3 with a run scored and an rbi. Lead-off hitter and Macomb’s Kylie Robinson had a pair of rbis in the game, as Illinois outhit Hawaii 12-2 and scored in every inning but one. Illinois will get right back on the field in pool play on Tuesday at 2:00 with a match up with the Southeast team from South Carolina. All world series games can be watched at ESPN+.
