Joan K. Smyers, 84, of Monmouth, IL passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at the LaMoine Retirement Assisted Living, Macomb, Il.

Joan was born October 4, 1939 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Roland and Dorothy (Thompson) Chellew.  She was raised and educated in Taylorville, graduating from Taylorville High School. She later attended Nursing School in Taylorville.

Joan married Loren Smyers in Taylorville, Il on December 31, 1960 and he survives.

Joan was a nursing working at Cottage Hospital and for Dr. Willander both in Galesburg.  She later worked as a Corporate Nurse for Warren Achievement in Monmouth for several years.

She loved to read books, work in the yard, take care of her family and cleaning.

Survivors include her husband, Loren Smyers of Monmouth; her son, Keegan (Pamela) Smyers of Gerlaw, IL; her daughter, Kristin Sigler of Monmouth; her grandchildren, Bryce Smyers of Alexis, Alexander Smyers of Gerlaw, Ryan Garin and Kayliegh Garin both of GA and Ella Sigler of IN; her great-grandsons, Brody Smyers, Kade Smyers and Waylon Lee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant children, Kevin and Kathleen Smyers; her brother, Gene Chellew and sister, Linda Kenzel.
