Christopher Robin Fredrickson, 64, of Monmouth, Illinois, died Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

Chris was born March 23, 1960 in Monmouth, the son of Ruth Caroline (Burns) and Paul William Fredrickson. On January 4, 1984 in Monmouth, Chris was united in marriage to Peggy Louise Hunt. Their 40-year marriage brought four children, Haley, Jenna, Lyndsey, and Christopher. Chris is survived by his wife, Peggy of Monmouth; three daughters, Haley (Claude) Gooch of Abbeville, Louisiana, Jenna (Justin) Haun of Little York, Illinois, and Lyndsey (Stephen) Adams of Mt. Zion, Illinois; and one son, Christopher P. (Janette) Fredrickson of Monmouth; his mother Ruth Fredrickson of Monmouth; and 15 grandchildren, Claude, III, Yvonne, Estella, Alycia, Justin, Westin, Aeryn, Easton, Colton, Justin, Dillon, Jalyn, Christopher, Adam, and Patrick. Chris was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Diane Murdock; a brother, Paul William, II; an uncle, Donny Fredrickson; and a close friend, Dick Alcock.

A hard-working self-made man, Chris worked for many years in the sanitation department in Monmouth simultaneously running his farm, including raising hog and cattle. Chris also worked at Gavin Farms, and worked at General Grind in Aledo alongside his daughter, Haley and Flatts Electric alongside his son. He attended Yorkwood High School earning his high school diploma and welding from CSC in Galesburg. He was an accomplished drummer and was always proud that his high school band played at Walt Disney World. Growing up, he enjoyed church camps along with their family being host families for children and foster care. Chris loved working on old tractors. He was the best there was and the best mechanic. Chris, his son, and Dick Alcock enjoyed basket and net fishing at the Mississippi River. Chris had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a tough exterior but had a soft heart for his grandchildren, whom he dearly loved. As big as his heart was, his stories were often just as big, blurring the lines between truth and fiction, but he could always make you laugh. He was a strong Christian man and passed those beliefs and values to all his children. The family were long time members of the Warren County Farm Bureau.

Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Belmont Cemetery, Seaton, Illinois. A Celebration of life will be immediately following the burial at at the Little York Community Center. Memorial contributions may be made to Boots and Blessings-A Foster Care Ministry. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
