Jane M Anderson, 97, of Avon, Illinois passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026 at her home. She was born September 20, 1928, in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Addison Clay and Elsie (Palmer) McKinley. She was raised and educated in Abingdon, first at the Cherry Grove School and later Abingdon High School where she graduated with the class of 1946.
She married James W. Boyer in 1948 and together they had 2 children, Tim and Vicki. She later married Billy C. Anderson in 1958 and together they had two daughters, Debra Sue and Maude Deanne.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Vicki Diane (Victor) Gray of Abingdon, Debra Sue Masten of Pleasant Plains, Illinois; 5 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 4 step-great-great grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; one son, Timothy Dean and one daughter, Maude Deanne.
Jane was a homemaker and later worked for Maytag Manufacturing until her retirement in 1995. She loved participating in horse shows and roller skating. Her greatest joy was her family, and she especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s various activities. She was an avid LeBron James fan. She dearly loved her horse “Ben’s Cool” and her dog “Miley Sue.”
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the funeral home. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00-11:30 a.m., prior to the services. Interment will be in the Babbit Cemetery, St. Augustine, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the Avon Food Pantry, c/o the Avon Federated Church.
