Mrs. Joy L. Bair, 96, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 10:52 pm, Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at her home.

Joy was born December 6, 1927, in Victoria, Illinois, the daughter of Tyko and Violet (Larson) Johnson.  She married Marion “Cub” Bair on August 22, 1952, in Victoria, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on February 6, 2002, after 50 years of marriage.

Joy is survived by her sons, Marty Bair and Todd (and Bonnie) Bair both of Galesburg; her brother, Gary (and Diane) Johnson of Derby, Indiana, one granddaughter, Amanda (and Brandon) Lybarger of Galesburg, and a great granddaughter, Ila Marie Lybarger.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Kenny Johnson and Max Johnson, and her sister, Mary Jo Shover

Joy graduated from Victoria High School in 1945.  She went on to work for Admiral/Maytag Corporation for over 30 years, retiring July 1, 1992.  She was a volunteer for many years at the former Galesburg Cottage Corner and was a member of the Galesburg Evening Lioness Club.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.  Joy enjoyed cooking, crosswords puzzles, and putting jigsaw puzzles together.  She loved spending time with her family, including her in-laws, Leonard and Evelyn Olson. 

Graveside services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the Wataga Cemetery, Wataga, Illinois.  Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is assisting her family with arrangements.
