On Monday, September 9th, area veterans, senior citizens, and caretakers are invited to attend a Veteran and Senior Fair at the Spoon River College Community Center, located at 2500 East Jackson Street in Macomb. State Representative Dan Swanson shares the goals he wants this event to bring to the community:

“The goals for me for these events are first to allow all the vendors to meet each other and find out where there may be some gaps in coverage. To me, that is an objective I have, is that they get an opportunity to network. The second goal is to watch a veteran or senior walk out with a bag full of knowledge. To me those are two successes and these are not only for veterans or seniors, but also for caretakers of those veterans or seniors, because that is who call our office; that individual who is taking care of mom or help dad, who can they call to get some help. We will have the answers at these events.”

The Veteran and Senior Fair in collaboration with McDonough District Hospital, Western Illinois Home Health Care, Representative Norine Hammond, and Representative Swanson, will be held from 9 am to noon on September 9th.
