Darlene Virginia Gibbs, 87, of Roseville, Illinois, passed away at 8:50 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2024 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 11, 1936, in Elmwood, Illinois, the daughter of Orville and Margaret (Bleichner) Crowe. She was raised and educated in Elmwood graduating from Elmwood High School in 1955.

She married Dale Guy Gibbs on June 9, 1957 in Peoria, Illinois and they never looked back, enjoying 67 wonderful years of marriage.

Those left to cherish her memory are; husband, Dale of Roseville; sons, Steve (Angela) Gibbs of Roseville, Mike Gibbs of Swan Creek, Illinois, Jeff (Diana) Gibbs of San Tan Valley, Arizona and Tim Gibbs of Florence, Arizona; daughter, Patty (Bob) Reutter of Mesa, Arizona. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Dean Crowe.

Darlene was a homemaker who loved raising and taking care of her family. She was kind and caring and helped many people in their times of need. She worked at Roseville High School as a cook for 2 years and as a CNA at the Roseville Nursing Home. Her biggest and longest-term job was working in the fields; making lunches, hauling corn and beans. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and sewing, but nothing meant more to her than her family.

She was a member of the Swan Creek United Methodist Women where she served as the financial secretary for many years.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the funeral home. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Roseville Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Swan Creek United Methodist Church and left in the care of the funeral home.
