Illinois Pushing To Improve Language Barriers For Accessing State Agencies

Illinois is attempting to remove language barriers for Illinoisans seeking to access state agency resources.  Governor Pritzker signed the Language Equity and Access Act into law.  The bill requires the Governor’s Office of New Americans to craft, implement and oversee statewide language access requirements.  Nearly 24-percent of Illinois households speak a language other than English in the home.
