On the second anniversary of President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) IL State Director Pam Monetti announced four Illinois businesses received over $1.5 million in clean energy system investments to increase the availability of domestic biofuels.

The Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIIP) is part of President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, the nation’s largest-ever investment in combatting the climate crisis.

“Investing in clean energy systems and renewable fuels is critical to our economy and climate infrastructure”, says Monetti. “Part of combatting climate change includes supporting our rural towns, businesses, and ag producers in transitioning to these renewable energy systems, and that’s really what Rural Development is focusing on – providing financial support to our rural infrastructure to make these changes sustainable.”

Illinois projects include:

  • Malim Inc received $514,500 HBIIP investment to install 2 new E15 dispensers, two E85 dispensers, two B20 dispensers, 2 ethanol storage tanks, and one biodiesel storage tank at one fueling station in Chicago.
  • Pak Investments LLC received a $437,701K HBIIP investment to expand the sales and use of renewable fuels. This project will install three E15 dispensers, three E85 dispensers, and two ethanol storage tanks at one fueling station in Chicago. The purpose of this funding is to assist owners of transportation fueling and fuel distribution facilities.
  • KSA Barrington Inc received a $351K investment to install one E85 dispenser, one B20 dispenser, one ethanol storage tank, and one biodiesel storage tank at one fueling station in Barrington.
  • Lucky’s Energy Service Inc received a $299,669K investment to install a 12,600-gallon biodiesel storage tank and loading equipment at one location in Hampshire. This project anticipates increasing the amount of biodiesel sold by 1.2 million gallons per year.

USDA continues to accept HBIIP applications until Sept. 30, 2024, at 3:30pm C.T. For more information, go to the HBIIP webpage.
