Monmouth Alum Cooper Pauley Named New Cross Country Coach

Monmouth College alum Cooper Pauley has been named Monmouth College cross country coach. In addition to being the head cross country coach for both the men’s and women’s teams, Pauley will be an assistant coach for the track and field teams.

Pauley returns to Monmouth after coaching at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri from 2022-24. He coached both of the Roadrunners teams to Region XVI Team Championships last fall. Pauley’s teams earned three Academic All-American team honors for the 2023-24 academic year.

A native of Lanark, Illinois, Pauley ran cross country at Eastland High School before coming to Monmouth. With the Fighting Scots, Pauley was a 4-time All Midwest Conference selection, two in track and field and two in Cross Country.

In cross country, Pauley ranks seventh on Monmouth’s all-time 8000m performance list with a time of 25:07.2 at the 2017 NCAA Midwest Regionals at Rock Island. He finished fourth at the 2016 MWC meet and 10th at the 2017 MWC meet. His 25:57.6 time at the 2017 meet is the seventh best 8000m time at a MWC Championship meet in Monmouth history.

On the track, Pauley ranks 10th in Monmouth history at the outdoor 5000m and third in the 10,000m. Indoor he ranks 10th in the 5000m Pauley was a Wellness Administration major at Monmouth.
