Phyllis A. Briggs, 89, of Galesburg, died at 1:12 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2024, in Allure of Lake Storey.

She was born March 1, 1935, in Galesburg, the daughter of Ray N. and Lillian B. (Watson) Carter. She had been married to Dale Briggs.

She is survived by five children, Russell (Mechele) Carter of Gilham, Missouri, Tony (Shawn) Briggs of Portland, Oregon, Lawrence (Jennifer) Briggs of Galesburg, Jeff Briggs of Galesburg, and Brenda Briggs of Peoria; five grandchildren, Tyler Briggs, Tori Wooter, Lashae Briggs, LaTeka Carter, and Tiffany Briggs; 12 great grandchildren; and a nephew, Bill Williams of New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Russell Carter Jr.; and her sister, Darlene Carter.

Phyllis worked at Maytag for 35 years before retiring. After Maytag, she worked in various departments at Bergner’s for many years until their closure. She graduated from Galesburg High School. Her spare time was spent with her family.

Cremation will be accorded. No public service is planned. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
