Drone usage has taken flight in the agriculture industry as more farmers take advantage of the technology. Josh Oaks with Mav 1 LLC says that using drones allows farmers to spray when the fields are wet and avoid running over any corn.
“As I watched the drone through the field, I really liked the spray pattern, just how it looked coming out of the drone. It’s a quadcopter, so all four blades are getting that chemical down into the canopy, and it feels like it is penetrating down to into the crop,” says Oaks. “I just feel like it’s doing a nice job. It’s nice and even so, I think you’re getting great coverage out of out of a drone like that.”
Oaks says that it takes about 50 minutes to an hour to spray a 40-acre, rectangle field.
