What to Know Before Open Enrollment and the Medicare Part D Updates

Share

Changes to the Medicare Part D program will be implemented for this next year and Strom Center Executive Director Carol McCrery encourages everyone enrolled in Medicare Part D to review their plan:

“Please, if you are in a program, still get a review because those formularies change, tier levels change, premiums change, deductibles change; so if you are in a program this year, don’t assume it is going to be great next year. However, there will be a $2,000 limit on medications that are on your formulary. If you have a medication that you are prescribed in the middle of the year, don’t be dismayed by that because there is a formulary book. That formulary book is like gold. You can check to see how much that medication is going to cost and what tier level it will be.”

Medicare open enrollment period is October 15th through December 7th.
