WIU Athletics to Host Various Activities During Purple & Gold Gala Weekend

Western Illinois University Athletics is set to host the 35th annual Purple and Gold Gala on Saturday, August 10. For the first time, the weekend will feature various additional activities and events for fans and supporters of Leatherneck Athletics.

The following activities will take place throughout the course of the weekend:

  • Friday, August 9 – Suzi Stambaugh Miner ’72 ’73 Memorial Golf Outing
    • 10:00 a.m. Shotgun Start
  • Friday, August 9 – Ladies First Football Camp
    • 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Western Hall & Hanson Field
  • Saturday, August 10 – Leatherneck Football Open Practice
    • 9:45 a.m. at Hanson Field
  • Saturday, August 10 – Purple & Gold Gala
    • 5:00 p.m. doors open at Western Hall
  • Sunday, August 11 – WIU Women’s Soccer vs. St. Ambrose
    • 5:00 p.m. at John MacKenzie Alumni Field

The 35th Annual Purple and Gold Gala, which is the main fundraising event for WIU Athletics, will take place in Western Hall on Saturday night. The event will feature a social, silent auction, a dinner featuring a variety of food stations, and a live auction.

Reservations can be made for the 2024 Purple and Gold Gala by visiting the auction website and selecting the RSVP tab or contacting WIU Athletics main office at (309) 298-1190, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
