The Monmouth College volleyball team won both of the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week awards on Tuesday. Freshman Kaylee Celus (Annawan, Illinois) won the Offensive Performer of the Week award for the second time and senior Savannah Robinson (Delavan, Illinois) won the Defensive Performer of the Week award.
Celus was outstanding for the Scots in a 2-2 weekend at the UW-LaCrosse Invite. She was named to the All-Tournament Team with 89 kills, six aces, 27 digs and four blocks. Celus hit .311 for the weekend with at least 21 kills in all four matches. She posted a career-high 25 kills against UW LaCrosse with only five errors on Friday. Celus had 42 kills on Saturday with four aces as Monmouth took Nebraska Wesleyan to 5 sets and then beat Luther. For the week she averaged 4.68 kills per set, and she is 3rd in the MWC in kills per set on the season.
Robinson had a big weekend as libero for the Scots at the UW-LaCrosse Invite. With 85 digs, six aces and 21 assists the senior was named to the All-Tournament Team. Robinson logged her 1000th career dig on Friday in just her 3rd season as a starter. She followed a 23 dig match against Macalester with a season-high 26 dig match on Saturday against Luther. For the tournament, Robinson averaged 4.47 digs per set, and she ranks 4th in the MWC in that category for the season at 4.19.
The Scots are 8-6 on the season and they will play at Eureka on Thursday. The Scots head to Terre Haute, Indiana on Saturday for matches against Rose-Hulman and Anderson University. The next home game is Friday, Oct. 11 against Illinois College.
