Clarence Franklin McClure, also known as “Frankie” or “Uncle Frank,” by those who loved him, passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side on August 31, 2024 at his home, Oak Lane Nursing Home & Rehab in Stronghurst, IL.

Frank was born on July 5, 1948 in Beardstown, IL.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Wilbur Byron McClure and his mother, Della Juanita Gertrude Moore.

Frank is survived by his three sisters, Christine (Donald) Royer of Hot Springs, AR; Leona Montgomery of Beardstown, IL and Barbara Wright of Rushville, IL. Also surviving is his niece, Cristal Queen (Michael Gipson) of Little York, IL; his nephews, Jim Self of Beardstown, IL; Tony (Ann) Self of Springfield, IL; Tony Royer of Rushville, IL; Mike Self (Vickie Atwood) of Beardstown, IL; Troy (Ang) Simpson of Denver, IL and Allen Montgomery of Keokuk, IA, along with two beloved great nieces, Amber Mann of Burlington, IA and Rachel Mann of Oquawka, IL, as well as several other nieces and nephews.

Frank enjoyed spending time at the nurse’s station at Oak Lane in Stronghurst, IL, in which he called home. We often referred to him as “The Chief.” So, his duties as “The Chief” were to direct the comings and goings of the staff and kept the nurses in line. Some of Frank’s favorite hobbies were watching movies and listening to his favorite band, KISS. His all time favorite TV shows were the Dukes of Hazard and Smokie and the Bandit. Frank was pure joy to any person that crossed his path. His spunk brought sunshine to everyone’s bad days. Although he was disabled with Cerebral Palsy, he lived life like there was no such thing as being disabled and that taught us to be grateful for what we have. He was a true inspiration to all of us. Frank is loved dearly and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Although he may be gone, his life will continue to live on through all our treasured memories we each have been blessed to have shared with Frank.

Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 10:00a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, IL. Burial will be held at a later date in the Beardstown, Illinois City Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Oak Lane Nursing Home.
