The Warren County Democrats are reporting sign stealing in the city of Monmouth during this election cycle. Democratic County Chair Steve Buban has released the following statement.

“The theft or destruction of Democratic political yard signs has gotten out of hand. These illegal actions constitute an affront to the property owners and interference with the democratic process. We can disagree on the candidates and the issues, but we should fully respect the right to free political speech that these signs represent.”

Signs are also reportedly being stolen in surrounding communities. According to a story from WGEM, the city of Macomb is cracking down on thefts of political signs, which police are saying is not politically motivated, just more of a nuisance, but it is still a misdemeanor and can come with a hefty fine.
