As construction continues in Downtown Monmouth, Police Chief Joe Switzer reminds motorists to slow down and use caution:

“Just be careful going around the square. As you can see the roadways are going to get necked down into just one lane going onto the square. The square is actually going to be a one lane roundabout, which is what it is now. The roadway appears that you can get two cars across there, and you can, but it is actually a one lane roundabout.”

Additionally, during the month of August, the Monmouth Police Department made 88 arrests, issued 143 citations, handled 1,530 calls, the dispatch center itself dispatched out 3,087 of the 3,813 total received calls, responded to 21 accidents, and the officers worked 66 grant hours.
