Monmouth City Council has entered a Professional Services Agreement with Hutchison Engineering for an Illinois Transportation Enhancement Project grant to continue the Downtown Beautification project into the 200 Block of South Main Street, reports Mayor Rod Davies:

“That grant application, their services would be $2,500, and that is to apply for a $2 million grant to continue the enhancement and development of our Downtown. This would cover the 200 Block on South Main Street. These funds are dedicated for enhancement of downtown’s. This is the same grant we applied for two times before, for the project we are undertaking now, that was funded by the Rebuild Illinois for $1 million more dollars than we applied for.”

Mayor Davies envisions with the grant the continuation of rebuilding the sidewalks and narrowing of the traffic lanes down to one to allow for diagonal parking in that 200 Block of South Main Street.
