Second Season of LincolnLand Conference Football Full of Early Parity

Share

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado football squad made some early mistakes in last Friday night’s 40-16 loss to (3-0) Stark County. After a win over South Fulton in week that got them to the .500 mark, the loss to Stark put them at (1-2) overall. the 2nd year of the Lincoln Land Conference has proven itself to be relatively unpredictable in the first 3 games of the season. The young LincolnLand Conference has two divisions totaling 17 schools. Out of those 17, there are only six teams that are (3-0), Stark County, Princeville, ROWVA/Williamsfield, Macomb, Brimfield/Elmwood and Farmington. Perennial power Knoxville has started (0-3), as has Illini West.

A-Town football head coach Rick Quinn says that with that amount of parity, any team has a chance to get hot and make a run down the stretch.

Quinn’s (1-2) Tornadoes have a date with (2-1) Rushville-Industry on Friday at Abingdon-Avon High School in Abingdon. Two of those (3-0) teams, ROWVA/Williamsfield and Princeville match up in Oneida on Friday. Knoxville looks to get in the win column with a home game against the LVC co-op. After a heart-wrenching overtime loss to ROWVA/Williamsfield last Friday, United will try to get their first win as they take on a surprising (1-2) Annawan/Wethersfield.
