At the recent United Board of Education meeting, the budget was passed unanimously. In further discussion, the Board is planning a retreat to focus on community engagement, shares Superintendent Tom Hawkins:

“Our Board has been wanting to look at a board retreat. I was on the phone this past month with some representatives from the Illinois Association of School Boards and our Board really wants to focus on community engagement, finding ways that we can continue to engage our very large, spread out community. We are looking at having one of those. That will be an open meeting, of course. We will have all our board members present, but it will be a training for them. We are looking at doing that somewhere in December.”

Superintendent Hawkins reports enrollment was also discussed and for this 2024-2025 school year, 1,022 students are enrolled in the United School District.
