The West Central Heat were at home for Week 9, taking on the two-time defending state champion Amboy-LaMoille-Ohio co-op. The Heat never found their footing, falling 56-14 to close the regular season at 7-2.
West Central has no time to dwell as they now turn their attention to the first round of the I8FA Playoffs. The Heat earned the 10-seed in the 8-man playoffs and will visit the 7-seeded West Carroll Thunder, the same squad they faced in Week 1. West Carroll shut out the Heat 42-0 back in week one of the season. With that match up nearly three months ago, both sides will enter the rematch looking much different.
Head Coach Jason Kirby says making the playoffs isn’t just big for the football team, but for the entire West Central community, and he shares some keys to advancing to Round 2.
The Heat travel to West Carroll this Saturday for Round 1, kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
