Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sept. 22, 2024:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is freshman volleyball player, Reese Anderson. The Titans went (3-1) in the Judy Richmond Tournament in Aledo, taking 3rd place, with Reese averaging double digits assists in each match. She was even better in a big win over Sherrard earlier in the week. Reese handed out 19 assists in the 3-set TRAC victory over a very solid Tiger squad.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior girls golfer, Leighton Trego. Leighton placed 2nd in the Lincoln Trail Conference Championship meet for the second straight year, posting an 82. She has placed in the top-10 of the tournament all 4 of her high school years. Earlier in the week, Leighton won the United Open with a score of 77.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is freshman football player, Graham Kelly. Graham has exploded on the scene in his first year of high school football. Last week in a 56-20 win, he ran for 155 yards, scoring two touchdowns. For the season, Graham has rushed for over 100 yards per game and hitting the endzone 7 times.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior boys soccer goal keeper, Caleb Johnson. Caleb picked up a couple of clean sheets in two wins last week. He allowed zero goals in a Western Big Six Conference win over Sterling and a non-conference victory over Abingdon-Avon. Caleb has three shutouts on the season for the Silver Streaks.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Emma Gunther. Emma has been solid all season long for the steadily improving Tornadoes. She showed her all-around skills last week. Emma led the Tornadoes in digs, hustling her way to 31 in five matches, also handing out 27 assists.
