With great sadness, we announce the passing of our son, brother, grandson, and friend, Cayden Daniel Mahr, on October 5, 2024.

Cayden Daniel Mahr, 23, was born to Daniel Robert and Naydeen Jan (Blout) Mahr on June 14, 2001, in Peoria, Illinois. He graduated from A-Town High School in 2019 and earned his associate degree in Diesel and Power Systems Technology at Spoon River College.

In high school, Cayden played football and basketball and was a member of FFA. As the only senior on the team, Cayden led A-Town to a 20-9 season record earning him the 2019 All-Area Boys Basketball Player of the Year. He served as FFA president and received his FFA State Degree.

Cayden loved every aspect of life. He has always been a hard worker who was passionate about farming, trucking, and boating. Cayden was in the height of his glory boating at Little Swan Lake, the Ozarks, or the Gulf of Mexico.  He was a phenomenal water skier.  In the winter, he enjoyed snowmobiling and snow skiing.

Immediately after turning 18, Cayden passed and earned his CDL. He became a skilled, talented, and diverse part of management of the family business, Hiel Trucking.

Farming was his true love.  At a young age he began working alongside his dad, uncle, and grandpa at Blout Farms. Cayden could truly do it all. If a machine had a key, he could operate it. He was a proud owner of Prairie Brothers Farms.

His smile was infectious. It may have gotten him into a little trouble, but it got him out of a whole lot more!

Cayden is survived by his parents, Danny and Naydeen Mahr of Prairie City; siblings, Calen and Aeryn Mahr of Prairie City; maternal grandparents, Armin and Jan Blout of Prairie City; paternal grandparents, John and Elizabeth Hiel of Avon; aunts and uncles, Aaron (Julie) Blout of Prairie City, David (Katina) Mahr of Swansea, Travis (Tisha) Hiel of Prairie City, Trevor (Diana) Hiel of Washington; cousins Bridjet Blout (Luke) Watson, Jeremy Mahr, Braxton Mahr, Johnny Hiel, Jaxon Hiel, Annabelle Hiel, and Emory Hiel as well as other great aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Cayden was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Bertie (Butch) Dawdy and his paternal grandfather, Paul Mahr.  Cayden gave us a lifetime of love during his short time on earth. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Visitation with family will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Aaron and Julie Blout machine shed located at 22320 E 2200th Street, Prairie City, Illinois.  Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, in the Blout machine shed.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Cayden Mahr Scholarship which will benefit graduating seniors. Martin-Hollis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Please sign the guestbook and leave condolences at www.martinhollisfh.com
