Jordan LeVelle Hess, 34, of Galesburg, died at 8:25 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2024, in Northwestern Hospital in Chicago following a short illness.

He was born November 1, 1989, in Monmouth, the son of Elbert W. and DeShawn Jean (Peoples) Hess.

He is survived by his parents, Elbert W. Hess and DeShawn Lukowski; children, Jordan Hess, Aniyah Russell, and Journey Hess; brothers, Nicholas Hess, Zachariah Peoples, and Ezra Peoples Lukowski; a sister, Aliah Peoples; grandparents, Barbara Peoples, Robert and Mary Hess, and William Cassell; several aunts and uncles, including Kimberly Davis, who helped raise him and cared for him during his illness; the mother of his children, Jena Lester; and cousins and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jimmy Peoples and Norman Hukill.

Jordan had worked as a waiter at several area restaurants. He was of Baptist faith. Jordan enjoyed collecting baseball cards and helping people in need. His greatest pride and joy were his children. He loved spending time with them and fought his illness, without complaint, in order to be here to care for them. His brother, Nicholas and aunt, Kimberly, cared for Jordan during his illness.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services of Galesburg. A further celebration of life will be held on his birthday, November 1, 2024. Details will be announced on Kimberly’s Facebook page. Cremation will be accorded.
