Monmouth-Roseville Titans Hope to Bounce Back After Week 8 Loss with Road Win in Sterling

Except for a handful of football games on Saturday around the state of Illinois, tonight is the final night of the regular season for local teams. Monmouth-area playoff qualifiers are pretty much set, but those teams are looking to better their playoff seeding or secure a home game in the first round next weekend. The Monmouth-Roseville Titans are hoping for both of those scenarios as they hit the road to take on the Sterling Newman Central Catholic Comets. The Titans are coming off their first loss of the season to Rockridge at home last Friday night, 28-18, and are currently (7-1). Newman is also (7-1) overall and have ran off seven straight wins after an opening week loss to Princeton. Both schools won their respective divisions in the TRAC, with Monmouth-Roseville beating Princeton by a game in the Mississippi and Newman earning a Rock Division title by one game over Rockridge. Therefore, tonight’s match up between the Titans and the Comets is for a pseudo-conference championship. With a win, Monmouth-Roseville would most likely wrap up a first round home game in week one of the playoffs, as would the Comets. The importance of tonight’s match up is not lost on Titan head coach Jeremy Adolphson

The game will be played on the artificial turf field at Sterling High School, which is where Newman plays their home games. You can find it on the radio on the home of Monmouth-Roseville Titan football, Sunny 97.7 WMOI, with the pregame show starting at 6:35. Kickoff is set for 7:00.

The other game on the PCSN tonight has the United Red Storm hosting Stark County for the Red Storm’s senior night festivities. United head coach Andrew Goodwin is looking for his first head coaching win in his career, while the visiting (7-1) Rebels have a couple of goals on their minds. With a win, Stark County can secure a first round playoff home game and also clinch at least a share of the LincolnLand Small School Division title. The Rebels are tied with Princeville and Rushville-Industry at (6-1) in the division standings. Princeville has (5-3) Annawan/Wethersfield at home and Rushville/Industry will take a trip to (2-6) South Fulton. You can hear the United/Stark County game on the home of Red Storm football, AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM. The game will kickoff at 7:00, with the pregame show hitting the air at 6:35.

Besides the radio, both games on the PCSN tonight can be heard online at radiomonmouth.com by clicking the LISTEN LIVE button on the upper right hand corner of the homepage. You can also listen with a pair of headphone right from the bleachers by downloading our absolutely free 97.7 WMOI and 1330 WRAM apps from your Google Play or Apple App Stores.
