The West Central Heat 8-man football team has gotten off to a great start to the season at (5-0). After dominating wins over Peoria Heights and Galva in which the Heat offense put up 118 total points in week 3 and 4, West Central was tested in their week five win over the West Prairie/Southeastern co-op. The Heat led 32-20 at the half and then held on in second half of a 40-32 win.
In an extremely odd scheduling quirk, all five of West Central’s games were played on the road. This will be the first chance for the Heat fans to see their team play at West Central High School in Biggsville. To make the welcome home even better, it’s Homecoming Week for the school. A familiar opponent will be the first visitor. For the second time already this season, the Heat will play an opponent for the second time. West Central beat Bushnell-Prairie City 38-26 on a Saturday afternoon in Bushnell. BPC will be looking for some payback this Friday night. The Spartans (2-3) overall on the season and need to get some wins racked up if they want to make the 8-man playoffs for the second straight year.
West Central head coach Jason Kirby knows his ballclub will see a motivated Spartan squad on Friday night.
The Heat’s Homecoming game will kickoff at 7:00 on Friday night at West Central High School.
