The former Maytag building in Galesburg is getting new life. Western Smokehouse Partners, which manufactures snack sticks, is expanding into the space, shares Knox County Area Partnership President Ken Springer:

“Western Smokehouse Partners is going to go into the Maytag building, invest a bunch of capital in Galesburg, and create between 150 to 180 news jobs. That is a huge deal for this community. Very, very excited to see the former Maytag building reused in this manner.”

Additionally, the Galesburg Municipal Airport has received a regional airport designation from the Federal Aviation Administration, which is based on the number of operations filed through the airport. The Galesburg Airport will now be placed in a higher level of federal funding opportunities.
