Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 20, 2024:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior soccer player, Isaac Garcia. Isaac has had a tremendous season for the Titans, both as a stone-wall goal keeper and offensive force. In the regional semifinal against Abingdon-Avon, he posted a shutout as a goalie, making three saves, and also scored the only goal of the game on a penalty kick. Isaac has nine shutouts and 4 penalty kick goals on the season.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Katie Flynn. Katie’s versatility and athleticism was definitely on display in two Red Storm victories last week. She totaled 11 kills at the net along with 26 digs, with 20 of those digs coming in a pivotal LTC win over Knoxville. Katie showed she could contribute on the service line, as well, tossing up two aces.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Reagan Long. In an extremely busy week that saw the Heat play seven matches in six days, Reagan seemed to never run out of energy. She was one of the team leaders in digs for the week, averaging close to seven a match. Reagan hustled her way to a personal week-high of ten digs in a win over A-Town at the BPC invite.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is freshman cross country runner, Brayden McGuire. In just his first year of high school cross country, Brayden has led the way for the Streaks in nearly every meet so far. He placed 31st out of nearly 150 runners at the recently completed Western Big Six Conference championships on his home course of Lake Storey.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Sydni Teel. Sydni hustled her way to a plethora of digs in a pair of matches last week. She totaled 17 digs in a Lincoln Trail Conference contest against Wethersfield and non-conference match against Western Big Six Conference Alleman. Sydni also helped out at the net, totaling five kills in those games, as well.
