Mr. Jerald L. “Jerry” Karrick, Sr., 87, of Williamsfield, Illinois died at 11:18 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Carle Methodist Hospital in Peoria, Illinois.

He was born on December 20, 1936, in Peoria the fourth child of fourteen to William and Martha (Heacock) Karrick, Sr.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia L. Ross of Middleburg Heights, Ohio and Susan G. Sasina of Brunswick, Ohio, four sisters, Dorothy A. (David) Armstrong of Janesville, Wisconsin, Eleanor M. (the late Jim) Nelson of Ellisville, Illinois, Nancy E. (John) Umbeck of West Lafayette, Indiana, and Kay (the late Charley) Bigsby of Toledo, Ohio; two brothers, Raymond K. (Edna) Karrick of Huntsville, Alabama and Cleve P. (the late Cathy) Karrick of Rochelle, Illinois; his sister-in-law, Gayla Karrick of Farmington, Illinois; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jerald L. Karrick, Jr., four sisters, Vickie O. (Richard) Pasaleri, Martha Jeanie (Jean) Dawson, Betty Lou (Richard) Lehene, Doris M. (Bob) Newtson and three brothers, William (Cora) Karrick, Jr., Danny A. Karrick and Steve V. Karrick.

Jerry attended Williamsfield High School and later enlisted in the United States Air Force serving for eight years. Jerry lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, working as a manager for Gunther’s Volkswagen Dealership, receiving recognition for his 30 years of service as a master registered technician.

After his retirement, Jerry made his way back to Illinois settling into his hometown of Williamsfield. He had a love for decorating, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas and had been voted one of the best decorations in the area. Jerry found great companionship with his dogs, Cass and Cassey.

Jerry requested to be cremated with a private burial in the Gilson Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel are assisting his family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com
