Dennis D. Johnson, 69, of Greenbush, Illinois passed away Wednesday, August 20 at 11:25 p.m. at OSF St Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. He was born October 25, 1955, in Galesburg, Illinois. He was the son of Frank Johnson and Hazel Bundren. He married Debra Dennis on April 30, 1973, in Roseville, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Debra; two daughters, Jennifer (Shawn) Scott and Ginelle Johnson; four grandchildren, Kolten (Nikki) Johnson, Sydney Scott, Brennan Scott, Kielee McCormick; one great grandchild, Kaden Johnson; six sisters, Tonni (Mike) Mattson, Bonnie Morrison, Judith (Francis) Johnston, Kathy (Sam) Maness, Vicki (Kelly) Mowen, Rhonda Johnson; and one brother, Larry Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Caleb McCormick.

Dennis was known for being a witty, kind, genuine, dedicated, and a hard-working man always willing to help others and provide for his family. He loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, boating, hunting, watching the Chicago Bears win or lose “pitiful, pitiful”, listening to music, and tinkering in his garage. If something wasn’t working, he’d tear it apart and fix it. With this interest, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, and was often referred to as Mr. Fix It.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the many medical professionals at the OSF facilities, Illinois Cancer Care, and Hospice for their support, exceptional care, and compassion.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 27 at his house in Greenbush from 2 – 4 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family and left in the care of the funeral home. Moore Memorial Home in Roseville is handling the arrangements.
