The Monmouth-Roseville High School Drama Club will present their fall production, Rehearsal for Murder, in the High School auditorium this Friday and Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday, November 10th at 2 pm. Senior Sawyer Fletcher, who will portray Leo Gibbs, shares the plot:

“The show is called Rehearsal for Murder, and it is kind of a self-referential rehearsal process, so it kind of goes through the rehearsal process of a show, but it is a mystery at the same time. It is really interesting; I have never done a show like it. It is full of twists and turns that are revealed, if I kind of give more. It is kind of hard to describe more, but it is really good.”

The play is based on the Edgar Award winning 1983 television film of the same name. Tickets for this weekend’s production can be purchased at the door and are $10 for adults and $5 for students with an ID. Students junior high age and younger are asked to be accompanied by an adult.

The Monmouth-Roseville High School Drama Club will present its fall production, the mystery Rehearsal for Murder, on Friday, November 8, and Saturday, November 9, at 7:00pm, and Sunday, November 10, at 2:00pm in the M-RHS auditorium.

One year ago, Alex Dennison’s new comedy opened on Broadway. That same night, following a series of mediocre reviews, Monica Welles, the show’s star (and Alex’s fiancee), seemingly jumped to her death from the terrace of her apartment. Now, Alex has returned to New York with a new play and has reunited the cast and crew of his previous show to give the play a reading. As the night wears on and more scenes are revealed, it quickly becomes apparent to the participants that Alex wants more than opinions on this new play. He wants to find out who murdered Monica.

The cast includes seniors Matthew Blackford (Lloyd Andrews), Sawyer Fletcher (Leo Gibbs), Rowan Love (David Mathews), and Jennika Raymond (Bella Lamb); juniors Drew Carlson (Alex Dennison), Olivia Rogers (Monica Welles), and Angel Ruiz (Mr. Santoro); sophomores Anastasia Hinderliter (Ernie), Fox Nelson (Man in the Auditorium), and Hannah Neubauer (Officer #1); and freshmen Maddie Cook (Sally Bean), Lila Neubauer (Loretta), Amelia Pilger (Officer #2), Fernando Ruiz (Second Man in the Auditorium), and Cecelia St. George (Karen Daniels). The show is directed by M-R English teacher Melissa Agar. Senior Nick Johnston is stage manager with sophomore Wren Jared and freshman Roegan Sprinkle serving as assistant stage managers.

The play is based on the Edgar Award winning 1983 television film of the same name, which starred Lynn Redgrave, Robert Preston, and Jeff Goldblum. The film script was written by Richard Levinson and William Link and was adapted by D.D. Brooke.

Tickets for the production cost $10 for adults and $5 for students with ID. Tickets may be purchased at the door. It is asked that students junior high and younger be accompanied by an adult.

Rehearsal for Murder is produced through special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company.
