The latest art show at Sandburg is “A Moment’s Peace,” featuring paintings by Suzette Boulais, in the art gallery located in building D on the Galesburg campus.
The show is up through Jan. 13, and an opening reception for “A Moment’s Peace” will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 8. The show and reception are free and open to the public.
Influenced by abstract expressionist Mark Rothko, much of Boulais’ art is intended to evoke feelings related to peace, happiness, hope and serenity as quiet meditations and reflections that are designed to calm and comfort. Boulais also designs and hand-paints a line of notecards that include inspirational quotes with her original artwork as a backdrop.
Boulais’ paintings are on display at several Peoria-area institutions and businesses, including Exhibit A Gallery, Methodist College, Gallery Homes Realty, the MAXAM Building, Art Space, the Center for Prevention of Abuse and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
