Each year, Farm Bureau members from across Illinois gather at the Annual Meeting to discuss policy priorities for the upcoming year. Jake Armstrong, president of the Warren- Henderson Farm Bureau says he is not sure what to expect from this year’s meeting following the announcement of the Illinois Farm Bureau being expelled from American Farm Bureau Federation membership.
“Most years, I can sit here and tell you we’ve got this resolution that’s probably going to be a hot topic, I’ve heard of this coming from the floor, we have elections. But, with all the other stuff that’s been surrounding Illinois Farm Bureau right now, I don’t really know what to expect with this annual meeting,” says Armstrong. “Regardless of what’s going on, we still have some good resolutions coming regarding foreign entities owning American farmland. We do have some pipeline and some carbon capture stuff on the docket. We still have good work and important work to do, because that’s where we go up and affirm our policy book.”
The Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting is taking place December 7 through 10 at the Palmer House in Chicago.
