Update(death investigation)
In an effort for public transparency we would like to provide an update into the death investigation in which human remains were located in rural Kewanee on 03/10/24.
12/11/24: A workup of the skeletal remains was conducted at the Human Osteology Laboratory- Illinois State Museum. The archaeologist was able to determine the remains belonged to a caucasian male that was 5’6″- 5’9″ with an age between 30-53 years old. The subject would have been in good physical shape and had previous trauma to their head. No other characteristics could be determined. A cause of death could not be determined based off of the remains.
A sketch artist was able to create a possible image of what the subject could have looked like (attached)
Known missing subjects from the local area were able to be ruled out based on the defining characteristics and also through dental records.
This release of information was a joint effort with the Henry County Coroner’s Office, Coroner Melissa Watkins.
This incident is still an open investigation. We encourage anyone with information to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 309 937 3911.
Lead Investigator for the case is Sgt. Detective Jake Koster.
Respectfully,
