OSF HealthCare had a significant year in 2024 full of progress, and the opening of the Cancer Institute in Peoria. Lisa DeKezel, President of OSF Holy Falimy and St. Mary explains the opening of the Cancer Institute brings patients advanced care close to home.

“The Cancer Institute was built around the opportunity to bring in the proton beam. There are not many of those across the country, and to have one position in the state of Illinois, that is really best in class, state-of-the-art opportunity for our patients to not have to travel so far to receive those types of services,” says DeKezel. “So it was built around that and then full-on medical oncology, radiation oncology, and all of the supportive services to really wrap ourselves around the patients and throughout their entire cancer journey.”

The Cancer Institute also offers opportunities for the latest clinical research and trials to be available to patients.
