Rolland Eugene Adkisson passed away peacefully on December 17th at 11:33 am. He was resting comfortably at home surrounded by his family. Rolland was born on July 15th, 1941, to Fred and Opal Adkisson of Mount Ayr, IA.  He grew up working on grain bins and dryers, taking over the family business from his father and has passed it down to his son, Rolland Jr. Rolland enjoyed racing stockcars, watching Nascar, hunting and fishing with his son, Steve. He loved gardening, especially his tomatoes, and mowing the yard.  Throughout all of his travels and years, Rolland enjoyed conversing with others, he never knew a stranger. 

Rolland had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. It brought him great peace in his final days to be surrounded by all of his children.

Rolland was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard and Robert Adkisson, and two sisters, Wanita Seville and Alice Young.  Also by two sons, Todd Adkisson and Ricky Adkisson as well as one granddaughter and one grandson. 

Rolland is survived by his loving wife, Melba Adkisson (Kirkwood, IL); his sister Charlene “Chuck” Chubick (Tucson, AZ); his sons Steve Adkisson (Monmouth, IL), Rolland Jr. and Laura Adkisson (Mount Ayr, IA), Josh and Jackie Taylor (Jacksonville, FL), Jason and Kathy Taylor (Ruskin, FL) Bradley Adkisson (Onalaska, TX), and Troy Adkisson (Kirkwood, IL); his daughters Tina and Dusty Best (Mobile AL), Robin and Donny Hawkins (Bushnell, IL) Angela Adkisson-Vollbracht (Kewanee, IL), Sheryl Chaco (Saginaw, TX), and Meghan Taylor (Chicago); his 31 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the funeral home. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Roseville Memorial Park Cemetery. As a faithful donor to St. Jude, the family is asking for donations to be made in Rolland’s memory to either St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Rozetta Baptist Church. Moore Memorial Home, Roseville, is handling the arrangements.
