Ruth Ferguson Duncan, age 103, of Stronghurst, Illinois passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst.  She was born August 26, 1921 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the daughter of Walter and Lena Hood Ferguson.  On December 12, 1938, she married Kenneth Marshall Duncan in Edina,Missouri. 

Ruth lived most of her adult life in the Stronghurst area.  She was a homemaker, farm wife, mother, babysitter, and a volunteer who devoted much of her life helping others.  She was a member of the Community Senior Citizens and the Stronghurst Presbyterian Church, where she also was a member of the Willing Workers and taught Sunday School for many years.

Survivors include one son, Howard (Judy) Duncan of Stronghurst, five daughters, Carol Johnson, Cindy Smith and Christy (Randy) Keever, all of Stronghurst, Connie (Norman) LaRue of Macomb, IL, and Candy Duncan of Monmouth, IL, one brother, LeRoy (Emma) Ferguson of Burlington, IA, one sister, Sandra Wickham of Florida, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Melvin Duncan, a grandson and great grandson, six brothers, Charles, Max, Henry, Walter Jr., Leon, and Gerald Ferguson, and one sister, Mary Alice Stewart. 

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Pastor Pam Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in the Stronghurst Cemetery.  No visitation is planned.  A memorial fund has been established for Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab.  Please visit Ruth’s obituary at banksandbeals.com to leave a condolence.
