Doris Jean Vaughn, age 76, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. She was born April 16, 1949 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Donald and Harriett Murphy Pattison. On December 4, 1971, she married Charles “Chuck” Vaughn in Seaton, Illinois.
Doris was a legal secretary for George Hennenfent, Attorney, for twenty five years. Earlier she had worked at United Way in Monmouth, Community National Bank and the National Bank, both in Monmouth. She was a member of the Henderson County Extension, and the Stronghurst Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed traveling, solving jigsaw puzzles, and flower gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Chuck, three daughters, Michelle (Reza Raberi) Vaughn of Turnersville, NJ, Melissa (Anthony) Canale of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and Susan Vaughn of Blairsville, GA, six grandchildren, Leila Raberi, Nadia Raberi, Noah Raberi, Chase Allen, Talis Queen and Nick Queen, and two sisters, Kathy Morris of Durham, NH, and Robin (Ron) Miller of Monmouth, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2025 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Memorial funds have been established for Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab and Family Outreach Community Center.
