At the recent Warren County Board meeting, a presentation from Prairie Hills Resource Conservation and Development about a potential land bank project to form an intergovernmental agreement, which would allow this organization to deal with abandoned properties within the county, explains Buildings and Grounds Committee Chair Sean Cavanaugh:
“Several counties want to get together and form an intergovernmental agreement that will allow this organization to deal with potentially derelict properties and possibly seize these properties and use incentives and grants as being part of this organization to rehab said facilities or homes, commercial, industrial, and pricing would be $3 to $5 per individual population within the county, but not within the city. That could be up to $30,000. We need more information about the land bank on just exactly how properties would be acquired and just how many properties they feel Warren County would fit into this land bank and if it is something we want to invest in financially, because it could be something we can deal with on our own and keep that money within Warren County.”
Warren County Board members will be attending a meeting in Macomb on January 23rd to obtain more information on this land bank project.
