Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Dec. 22, 2024:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior boys swimmer, Anders Bergren. Anders and his Galesburg/Monmouth-Roseville co-op team had fantastic Richwoods Invitational performances. The team placed 2nd out of 9 total schools. Anders was 4th in the 100 yard butterfly and 50 freestyle races and was also a part of the 4th place 400 freestyle relay team.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior boys basketball player, Ian Leffler. Ian was a key cog in the Red Storm machine that ran off five straight wins to claim the championship of the United Holiday Tournament. In the final three games alone, he scored an average of 16 points. Ian also pulled down 6 rebounds a game, as well.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Kyle Lafary. Kyle filled up the stat in back-to-back games in the United Holiday Tournament. In a loss to a solid West Prairie squad, he scored 18 points, pulled down 8 rebounds and had a pair of steals on defense. Kyle nearly had a double-double in a win against Knoxville, scoring 19 points and hauling in 9 rebounds.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior boys basketball player, Keigen Crummer. Keigen scored a career-high 18 points in a Streaks road win across the river in Burlington, Iowa. He came back four days later and beat that effort in another career-high scoring night. Keigen poured in 19 points in a loss to Davenport Central at the Iowa/Illinois Shootout.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior boys basketball player, Ayden Stromson. Ayden had a productive week in a busy, four game schedule. He averaged 12 points and three rebounds. Ayden was especially good in a win over Elmwood, scoring 16 points and going 4-for-4 at the free throw line, where he was 13-for-17 for the week.
