Mr. Gary Lee Clevenger, 70, of East Galesburg, Illinois died at 7:49 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2024, at his home.

He was born January 13, 1954, in Galesburg, Illinois to Lawrence and Laura (Parmenter) Clevenger. He first married Sharon Bass. He later married Dorothy “Dottie” Sorels on April 4, 1989, in East Galesburg. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2024.

Surviving is a stepson, Mike (and Chrissy) McDorman of Galesburg, a brother, Ronald Clevenger of Biggsville, Illinois, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Clevenger.

Gary graduated from Knoxville High School, Knoxville, Illinois in 1972. He was a Conductor for Burlington Northern\ Santa Fe Railroad for 42 years and retired on January 13, 2014. He was a member of the East Galesburg Community Chapel. He was also a member of the United Transportation Union for 42 years and the Masonic Pacific Lodge #66 for over 47 years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. He loved going fishing and boating with his wife, Dottie.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Masonic Pacific Lodge #66 at 7:00 p.m. As Gary requested, cremation will follow the visitation. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society.
