01/01/2025 Update:
The Fulton County Coroner Austin Rhodes has released the name of the deceased individual who is identified as Levi Blair, 39, of Canton. During this investigation it has been determined that Blair’s death has been ruled as a homicide. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Friday 01/03/2025. Blair’s death remains under investigation by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Lewistown Police, Illinois State Police and the Fulton County Coroner’s Office.
Update:
An arrest has been made regarding the incident in Lewistown.
Nicholas D. Pratt, 33 of Ipava, has been charged with First Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Endangering the life or health of a child. Pratt is in the custody at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office pending further court proceedings. The victim will be identified by the Fulton County Coroner’s Office at a later date.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
PRESS RELEASE
On 12/31/24 at approximately 1851 hours, Lewistown Police Department and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a gunshot victim at 518 S. Main St., Lewistown. Officers and Deputies responded to the scene and located an adult male with a gunshot wound to the head. Life-saving measures were initiated and the victim was subsequently transported by ambulance to Graham Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. The incident is being investigated by the Lewistown Police Department, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police.
There is no on-going threat to the public and this is believed to be an isolated incident.
